What is eSpace?

eSpace is a community based online collaboration tool dedicated to improving healthcare and wellness by sharing knowledge and experiences of technology enabled change. It uses the power of the web to make it easier for NHS professionals to work together whenever and wherever they need to. eSpace brings improved information sharing, enhanced communications and supports new and existing networks and communities.
Connect
A first port of call for many people when they need information or advice is their colleagues. But what do you do if you don’t know who knows the answer? The member directory can help. The member directory allows you to find useful contacts by name, interest and biography content. As an eSpace member, the more information you put in your biography i.e. work location, current and previous role, key interests etc, the more opportunity there is for people to find you, so make sure you complete your profile as fully as possible.
Discover
If you're wondering if someone has solved the problem you are battling with before, they probably have. Lessons learned, top tips and case studies have been collected from NPfIT implementations and made available in so that you can search and see how others have tackled things and try out the different approaches. These lessons can also help you identify potential risks and resource requirements before you kick of a project.
Share
At the heart of eSpace is a group of Communities of Practice dedicated to bringing about positive change in healthcare. These are groups of individuals with a common interest in a particular area of IT enabled change, who work together to improve their knowledge, understanding and practice. You can join as many communities you wish, but as content is created by community members, you need to invest some time participating in and contributing to each one.
Once you join eSpace you can:
Find a contact: Find colleagues who have been through it before, connect face to face and by email as well as online and help one another learn from your experiences
Ask for advice: There’s almost always someone out their who has done it before…use the communities discussion forums and eSpace member directory to ask for advice or check an idea with other colleagues
Share reports and updates: Use communities to share updates and progress without clogging up the email server.
Review documents: Save on time and email space by using community forums to discuss and review your documents
Promote events or meetings: Target a specific group of individuals to promote a meeting or event using the communities and member directory
Keep up to date: Keep on top of the latest themes, issues and developments that affect you in your own professional area
Search lessons learned: Avoid repeating a mistake, discover practical approaches, find a solution, identify risks upfront for effective planning
Flag a lesson learned: Help others to avoid mistakes, support your colleagues or suggest a solution for a problem. You can find a list of current communities on the page.
